Data breaches resulting in the compromise of personally identifiable information of thousands of Americans; intrusions into financial, corporate, and government networks; complex financial schemes committed by sophisticated cyber criminals against businesses and the public in general -- these unhappy circumstances make cybersecurity one of the fastest growing fields in the IT sector -- but cyber awareness has been a hallmark of the Volgenau School of Engineering for decades.
Bob Osgood, director of the school's Computer Forensics and Data Analytics programs will share some of his knowledge and expertise at 3:00 p.m. on October 19. Osgood teaches computer forensics and forensic accounting. He spent most of his career as an FBI Agent working in Washington D.C. and New York. He handled cases with spies Robert Hansssen and Ana Montez, worked on the investigation into the crash of TWA 800, and the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. He also worked on the first digital wiretap conducted by the FBI. His presentation, "From the Frontline: Working for the FBI" is free and open to the pubilc and will take place at the Johnson Center Room D.
Students, faculty, and the general public can attend many other cyber awareness events on campus this month.
